Ignis and Spectrum is an ongoing autobiographical tale of how two strangers met and what followed. Our story traverses between the waking world and the dreamworld. It began appearing online in April of 2009 with M.Z. handling the artwork for the first year (the first 49 pages, with some art appearing in later pages). She then handed the reins over to Cyril entirely on top of his lettering and writing duties – not that telling the truth of an autobiographical story based mainly in the hazy, memory-walled dreamworld is all that difficult.
Marvin Zeld Geneth was born in Texas during a particularly pleasant December. At an unconventionally young age, she started her own industrial development company and continues to maintain it to this day. With optimism and hope overtaking her senses, she agreed to Cyril’s proposal for her to do the art for this story. Eventually, she came to her senses and decided to spend her limited free time on other things. Since moving on from making Ignis and Spectrum, she has started translating her epic novel into a graphic novel format. She currently resides somewhere closer to you than you think with a rather dimwitted yet mysteriously cute cat named Fable.
Cyril Mikha’el Strand was born in Utah via cesarian section on a predetermined date in July so that his father could return to his schooling yet still be there for the birth of his second son. Touching. Cyril’s relationship with the area in which he grew up caused him to run away in his early twenties. During that time, he did certain things he may or may not regret. He won’t admit one way or the other. It was a dark time. He tends to be very neurotic and mostly keeps to himself. In his extended social hibernation in a secret location he won’t disclose to anyone he doesn’t trust, he continues to pretend he can update this comic about once every week or two. The contrast between this hope and reality makes him laugh with a heavy dose of remorse.
